After a brief summer break, I’m back with the second half of 2013’s weddings and engagements! We’re resuming with an inspiring DIY wedding of my dear friend, Kim and her handsome hubby, Monty.
I jumped up and down with joy in the middle of a downtown bar when Kim announced to me that she was finally marrying Monty, her boyfriend of something like forever. Now there’s something you should know. Kim and Monty are self declared non-romantics. They are goofy, fun loving, but so anti-attention grabbing, especially in the real of PDA. I should have known they would go over the top with amazing details to entertain their guests, mostly out of love for their friends and family, partially out of desire to take the attention off of themselves.
My team and I were floored when we saw how much hard work and thought went into every little detail of the wedding, and so much of it was hand made by the bride, groom, family and friends! Both Kim and Monty are science teachers, and incorporated vintage books, classic No 2 pencils, and old school science paraphenalia into their charming reception. They even made up their own periodic symbols to represent the different treats at the elaborate candy table! And that photo frame wall? Kim’s parents built that–yes, built that! I love how they added their own family photos onto the wall to finalize that personal touch.
Kim, with the help of her friends, made the panel above the fireplace out of wrapping paper and phonebook pages! Monty made the garland that draped the sweetheart table out of paper dots.
Congratulations to Kim and Monty, its been a long time coming, and cheers to doing it with your own personal style!
