Torey and John, a Doggy Engagement

April had been a whirlwind of shooting, and one of the highlights was meeting up with the ever lovely Molly Stinchfield (my east coast partner of “Viv and Molly, Bicoastal Weddings”).  We were delighted to shoot Torey and John’s engagement session at Cove Island Park.  They brought along their beloved Frankie, who was such a good boy to work with us!

We had been so lucky with the gorgeous day.  I couldn’t get over how amazing the light was, especially as it backlit Torey’s hair, and complimented their blue outfits.  Muah, to Molly!  And Torey and John and Frankie, thanks for being so wonderful to work with.

Leila and Jesus, a Retro Long Beach Wedding

Leila and Jesus recently tied the knot in a fun, retro styled wedding at the Reef in Long Beach!  In spite of the windiest day of 2012 redirecting the outdoor ceremony at the Korean Friendship Bell to the lovely Reef Restaurant, Leila and Jesus kept their cool.

I was in awe as I saw Leila’s look come together for the day.  She has impeccable taste: deep red lips, raven black curls, topped with a hair net that framed her face perfectly.

Jesus looked just as fly, with his white tux and bow tie.

Leila lit up when Jesus’s wedding day present arrived at the girls’ room.  He had cut out heart shaped photos if themselves and placed them within an engraved locket.

Off to the original ceremony site, where we snapped a quick pic.  It was a gorgeous day, but way too windy to risk an outdoor ceremony.

The Reef, in Long Beach, somehow managed to set up the room at a moment’s notice.

The mariachi band was definitely a crowd pleaser!

Leila and Jesus, congratulations and thank you for the honor of recording your day!

Charla and Shakir

I had the pleasure of shooting Charla and Shakir’s engagement session at Griffith Park a couple weeks back.  After talking on the phone with Charla, I knew I liked this girl immediately.  Well spoken, friendly, and intelligent, she had a vision of a romantic photo session as the sun was setting over the Los Angeles hills.

I loved their old school, retro style.  Charla’s had her hair done so the ends flipped up, which was perfect to add to the nostalgia in this sunset silhouette.
Charla had also brought along her Schwinn!  It was one of her first purchases when she came to LA.  Love the bold blue color!
As the sun faded, we got one last mini moment under a street lamp.  Shakir had been shy earlier in the day, but as he spent more time with Charla, I was moved by how his love for her was so apparent.  This was the last shot of the night.
