T’s California BBQ

Several weeks ago, I had a great time shooting a classic, outdoor Southern Californian wedding at a private Malibu residence.  As the guests were settling into the reception, I hopped out to the driveway to get some food shots.  That was where the team of T’s California BBQ had set up massive grills to barbeque their chicken and beef to perfection on site.  Miles, the groom, is a real foodie and he went all out to make sure his guests were going to be fed superbly well.

Though the BBQ meat was the star of the evening, the veggie plates definitely got my mouth watering.  Their ingredients are organic and locally grown.

I was impressed with the level of care T’s put into their food.  I kept thinking each dish was done, as I prepared to shoot, and members of their team would laugh at me, telling me “it’s not perfect yet!”  Only when each dish was dressed, drizzled, and arranged to perfection, would they let me take my shot.

The guests absolutely loved each dish, as I noticed the food being devoured as soon as the plates were set down at the tables.

Whitney and Mark, a Classic New England Engagement

Molly Stinchfield and I had such a great time with Whitney and Mark’s engagement session!  Whitney’s father is big on sailing and taught Whitney as she was growing up.  The Roton Point Association, of which her father is a member, was the perfect location for Whitney and Mark’s engagement shoot.

On the patio of the Roton Point Association Club House

We had the yacht club all to ourselves, and took full advantage of the hazy afternoon New England light, especially as it filtered onto the grand patio of the club house.

When Mark had proposed to Whitney, he had brought along green balloons.  He had her pop them one by one, in anticipation of the big moment.  As we got into the session, we could see that Mark was fun, silly, and full of surprises…and how much he absolutely adores Whitney.

Whitney and Mark, it was a pleasure for Molly and I to photograph the two of you.  We loved incorporating the balloons into your story, shooting at a place that is meaningful to you, and working with all of your fun energy!  Best of luck with the wedding!!!

Agnes Csiszar

Several weeks ago, I was lucky enough to cover a wedding of fantastical grandeur (which I’ll post in a couple of weeks).  One of Lindsey and Steve’s amazing ideas (actually, the brilliant idea belonged to Lindsey’s mother, Linda) was to commission Agnes Csiszar to paint their wedding reception as it was taking place.  YES! How amazing is that?!

Several hours prior to the reception, Csiszar starts with a sketch of the room.  As the evening unfolds, she incorporates the scenes and events she sees, working them into her composition.

In spite of being stationed in the corner of the Georgian ballroom, Csiszar somehow managed to capture all the nuances of the celebration.  She got Lindsey and Steve’s posture, the petal-like layers of Lindsey’s gown, and their overflowing love and happiness.

This is the final version of Csiszar’s painting that Lindsey and Steve will have as a keepsake of their wedding.

Agnes, it was wonderful and inspiring to work with you!  If anybody is interested in finding out more about Agnes Csiszar, her website is http://www.eventpaintingsbyagnes.com
