On a Thursday afternoon, I got a call from a guy named Travis. He asked if I would be available the next day to shoot his best friend Dennis’ marriage proposal to his girlfriend, Michelle. By Friday late afternoon, my heart is thumping as I’m trying not to look like a creeper hiding among the pillars of the Manhattan Beach pier, with two cameras, one of which has a 300mm lens. I was hoping the aisle of rose petals would be the giveaway, rather than me. Like the pier isn’t already drop dead romantic at sunset, Dennis and his super awesome group of friends had created an aisle of red rose petals leading from the top of the stairs down to the beach. Michelle, thinking Dennis was out of town, and was in Manhattan beach for a girls’ night out, was led to the stairway by her friends. As she wandered down the rose petal pathway, there was Dennis standing at the end, with engagement ring in hand. What an utterly romantic gesture, made possible by this group of people that love Dennis and Michelle. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking. 🙂
