Carl is a very popular guy. We had met because he was in not one, but two, bridal parties of previous weddings. Since their engagement session, I’ve had numerous people tell me “I know that guy!” It’s absolutely no wonder, since spending some time with Carl and Min, I can attest they are hands down one of the most fun and easygoing couples to spend time with.
I often say that “modeling is hard work (especially if you’re not a professional model)!” My best advice to couples being photographed is you have to stay in the moment, focus on the positives, and block out all the negatives or any distractions. I love, love, love this engagement session because Carl and Min do exactly that, all while 100% being themselves. The day we shot, it was nearly 100 degrees, the flies couldn’t get enough of Min’s tulle skirt, and we kept hearing this eerie rattling sound that made us paranoid of snakes (no joke, we are thigh deep in the grass). Carl and Min were able to look past all of that and roll with it. They never lost their sense of fun, or their love for each other. They have effortless chemistry, killer fashion sense, and a joie de vivre that is simply infectious.
I had a blast at their engagement session, I can only imagine the fun in store on their upcoming wedding day!

Thank you, always, to Kelly Zhang Studio’s terrific team for hair and makeup!
This career as a wedding photographer has been fulfilling in countless ways, one of the most meaningful is when it reconnects me with old friends. Julie was one of my dearest childhood playmates. We met through our parents when we were still in elementary school, Julie and her sister’s home was one of the few places I was allowed to have sleepovers. I hadn’t heard from her in years and years, until she reached out when she got engaged. YES! I get to photograph a dear friend’s wedding, I get to spend some quality time with her and her fiance, I get to witness what a great couple Julie and Gary are together. Not to mention, Julie looks almost exactly the same as when she was in high school. While we were at Disney Concert Hall, a passerby commented that they must be models. Haha…not a bad start to an engagement session!
