Tim and Gillian’s wedding is close to my heart. I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Steve and Alyssa’s Santa Barbara wedding back in 2013, where I met Gillian. She’d been following my work ever since, and reached out to me after her engagement. She originally had planned on getting married in Carmel, but when it looked like her wedding would take place in her home state of New Jersey, she didn’t think it would be possible to get me out there. With some thoughtful planning, she made it happen and it means so much to me. She brought me out to my first visit in the Garden State, and whoa–it’s lush, green, and gorgeous. I had a chance to meet all the family members at the rehearsal dinner, and I even helped Tim’s brother, Mike, come up with songs for their cocktail hour playlist. Tim and Gillian, like Alyssa and Steve, come from choral backgrounds and it was certainly a song filled event. Gillian’s sister, Julia, sang a lilting version of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” for the first dance, talented family and friends graced the stage, and Gillian’s extraordinary Aunt Doreen even wrote them a song for their wedding. It was an honor to document a couple so loved.
Special thanks to the lovely Kucsans, whose hospitality blew me away.
